WHAT QUESTION IS LIFE ASKING YOU?
GET THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTIONS
When I was in secondary school, I could remember a particular question they keep repeating in our Home Economic test and exams. infact the repetition became so obvious that I had to recognise that I need to pay attention to the kitchen skills to avoid failing my Home Economic exams.
One of the reasons this particular question prompted me to make that decision was that ,as simple as the question looked and was, I kept getting confused any time i met it in the exam hall. I will even try to remember my answer the last time and if I actually got it. Because then, you will always be shown your exam script at the closure of each term.
What exactly was the question?;
What method of cooking rice that you need to be dropping water little by little.
In another way, they will ask; What method of rice cooking that you can sieve the water after it's done?
You see how simple those questions are?
But to be sincere, you can only answer it based on either; your level of knowledge or by your level of experience. As much as I know by that stage of my life and from the method of cooking rice in my house, wether you are cooking rice white or jellof, you drop water by bit to avoid it getting too soft. You see where my confusion consolidates? I never knew that you can sieve out extra water from cooked white rice to even ensure that it doesn't clog together. What always rages through my mind is, if you sieve water out from white rice, you will waste the nutrients include Vit B and for jellof rice, the taste of the ingredients will wash out.
Come to think of it, I had valid reasons to think that non of them should be sieved after been cooked.
This is Life for you! There are things that keep coming to you even in different forms. Questioning your level of knowledge, conviction, values, faith e.t.c.
They can come in form of temptations, challenges, lack, limitations and so on.
You need to know what answers each of these questions are seeking. Some may be seeking to break you from your comfort zone of limitations and take you to the next level. Some may come to refine you or help you discover an area of your life that you are yet to break forth. Some will even come to help you consolidate what you already knew but not convinced about.
Some may be repeated because we have not succeeded in getting the answers or learnt the lessons they were meant to teach us.
And do you know that by the time, I got the opportunity to learn about the exact answer to that question, I made mockery of it and before I even knew it, I was out of secondary school. Yes. It came through my sister in-law. I observed that she sieves white rice after cooking and for me, it was a new experience. But instead of asking questions to know why she does that, I will stay by the side with my twin brother and laugh about it. Until my brother caught us and rebuked us . But he didn't stop there, he prompted us to ask her why she cokes her rice that way. He made us understand that, that is how to learn. It's either she has a good reason or we can learn another way of cooking White rice since we have only known one way all our life. That clicked! And I went to her and asked, when she explained that she does that to ensure that the rice doesn't clog together and thats the best way for cooking white rice for multiple people and which is mostly used by caterers, Kai, my eyes were opened. Not just that I got the answer for the question that I have repeatedly got confused about, I also learnt a critical lesson; that life can take you through different paths and experiences just to get you to one location. Secondly, if you must actualise your dreams, you must be flexible, sensitive and humble enough to learn from even the least expected source.
That experience you are passing through may be a question that you just need to find an answer to gain insight into where God is taking you to this season. Don't waste it! Life will test and examine you in the process to refine you. Be encouraged with uncle Job's verdict in
Job 23:10 "But He knows where I am going. And when He tests me, I will come out as pure as gold".
Be patient with your self and with life. Don't give up on your self nor on life itself. Receive the grace to maximize every opportunity coming in disguise! You are coming out stronger, better and wiser!
